OFTP - For Automotive, Suppliers and Logistics

OFTP (Odette File Transfer Protocol) is the protocol for point-to-point data transfer, which was originally developed for electronic business communcation between the automotive industry and its suppliers.


In many european countries, OFTP is known as ODETTE (originally for Organization for Data Exchange Through Teletransmission in Europe). The organization ODETTE, established by the european automotive industry, is putting up standards for e-business communication, electronic data interchange and logistic management. OFTP is as well applied on systems for payment transactions between banks and companies (clearing), in chemicals and transportation industry. OFTP meets the recommendation 4914/2 of the VDA (The German Association of the Automotive Industry).

All i-effect^® functions can be processed menu-controlled or completely automatically controlled with the module *SERVER.

Combined with EDI-converter i-effect^® *EDIFACT, i-effect^® *OFTP offers a communication component for your complete EDI solution on IBM System i5 (iSeries, AS/400). With the module *FLATFILE you can convert bi-directionally your ERP inhouse data (including SAP IDOC) into EDIFACT. *OFTP can be combined with all other i-effect^® modules for that you can convert and compress your iSeries data according to the particular workflow and to distribute them cross-platform.
