menten GmbH, specialist for EDI and data conversion, announces the release of the new i-effect® version 2.0. The core of the new version is the graphical EDI mapper, i-effect® *MAPGUI. With *MAPGUI it is now possible to create data mappings on the IBM Power Systems simply and efficiently with a graphical interface.
The user-friendly interface is complemented with seven modules for different EDI formats, which tie in with i-effect®’s basic module *BASE without any problems. This allows for more reliability with regard to communication between them: EDI files can be mapped in any imaginable combination between UN/EDIFACT, XML, FlatFile, iDoc, CSV, and ANSI X.12, or databases such as DB2, MySQL, or Oracle without limits and in an automated environment. The new mapper has already been tested by some i-effect® clients, who created their EDI mappings with *MAPGUI successfully and independently.
The Drag&Drop function allows for a quick familiarization with the mapper and guarantees a comfortable application. Specialized staff and programming skills are no longer necessary because even complex data mappings can now be created more quickly and more efficiently by the user himself. The often expensive services of third-party providers become redundant, which reduces IT costs and increases competitiveness.
Each mapping is unique – many years of experience in the EDI sector show that this rule is irrefutable. Consequently, the uniqueness of a mapping has already been taken into account during the developing phase of the graphical EDI mapper i-effect® *MAPGUI. It was constructed so that tools (user tasks) utilizing Java-Codes can easily be created and integrated. Adjustments to fit with company-specific changes can be made at any time.
The self-explanatory and intuitive user interface provides IT employees with a familiar working environment. It is now possible for IT employees to review mapping processes in a source and target view. The integrated map-tabbing function allows to open, edit or simply compare more than one mapping at the same time, which creates an outstanding clarity and minimizes the number of errors.
In order to profit from the advantages of the new EDI conversion, users will need the basic module, i-effect *BASE, as well as the respective module corresponding to the required EDI format. Future expansions with further EDI format modules are integrated quickly and easily.
i-effect® *MAPGUI communicates directly with your IBM Power Systems. Its multi-tier architecture makes this unique process possible. The client console requires minimal performance and band-width because all operations (business logic and database-connectivity) are run directly on the IBM Power Systems.
