IDoc

IDoc is an SAP format for transferring the data for a business transaction. IDoc is similar to XML in purpose, but differs in syntax.

While XML allows having some metadata about the document itself, an IDocs is obligated to have information at its header like its creator, creation time etc. While XML has a tag-like tree structure containing data and meta-data, IDocs use a table with the data and meta-data. IDocs also have a session that explains all the process which the document passed or will pass, allowing to debug and trace the status of the document.


IETF

IETF - (Internet Engineering Task Force) is an organization of developers, manufacturers, and users that develop and promote internet standards. The results are published at their website (http://www.ietf.org/) in the documents RFC (Request for Comments).


IFS

The Integrated File System (IFS) is a part of OS/400 that lets you support stream input/output and storage management similar to personal computer and UNIX® operating systems, while providing you with an integrating structure over all information stored in the server.


ILN

ILN - “international location number“ - ILNs identify physical addresses of companies, subsidiaries, branches, and regional offices of a company. An ILN can identify process orientated units of a company, such as, warehouse, department, assembly lines, delivery points, as well as network and communications routers.

The number will be used in all applications as an access key to the master data in the computer system. ILNs are used to deliver goods, paper bound information, or electronic data to the right address and desired location. It is a prerequisite for inter company information exchange.


IMAP

The Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) is one of the two most prevalent Internet standard protocols for e-mail retrieval, the other being the Post Office Protocol.[1] Virtually all modern e-mail clients and mail servers support both protocols as a means of transferring e-mail messages from a server.


INVOIC

The United Nations standard for electronic invoices ("INVOIC") includes standard codes for transmitting header information (common to the entire invoice) and codes for transmitting details for each of the line items (products or services). The "INVOIC" standard can also be used to transmit credit and debit memos.


IPDS

Intelligent Printer Data Stream (IPDS) is InfoPrint Solution Company´s Systems Application Architecture host-to-printer data stream for Advanced Function Presentation subsystems.

It provides an attachment-independent interface for controlling and managing all-points-addressable (APA) printers that allows the presentation of pages containing an architecturally unlimited mixture of different data types, including text, image, graphics, bar code, and object container. It is used by a variety of InfoPrint and OEM print servers that drive all-points-addressable (APA) page printers. Generally these printers are at the medium to high end of the print speed and volume spectrum.


ISDN

ISDN - “Integrated Services Digital Network” - WAN network for transmission of data, text, and speech.


ISO 9735

ISO 9735 - Syntax norm of UN/EDIFACT. Describes which elements are used to create the EDI message and how they relate to one another.


ISV
Independent software vendor (ISV) is a business term for companies specializing in making or selling software, designed for mass marketing or for niche markets. Most large software companies, including Microsoft, Google and IBM, have special programs for ISVs.
