OCR

Optical character recognition (OCR) is the mechanical or electronic translation of images of handwritten, typewritten or printed text (usually captured by a scanner) into machine-editable text with the help of an adequate software tool.


Odette

Odette - “Organization for Data Exchange by Tele-Transmission in Europe” - Organization of the European automotive industry that creates norms for it´s telecommunications requirements. It defines Odette messages and the OFTP protocol.


OFTP

The OFTP (ODETTE File Transfer Protocol) was defined by the European automotive industry to extend the traditional file-transfer capabilities of FTP (over TCP/IP). OFTP supports acknowledgments, binding of EDIFACT-specific messages, and a wider range of communications, including X.25 networks and ISDN facilities.


Open Source

Open source is an approach to the design, development, and distribution of software, offering practical accessibility to a software´s source code. The Open Source Definition is used by the Open Source Initiative to determine whether a software license can be considered open source.


OS/400

OS/400 is an operating system used on IBM´s line of AS/400 (now called System i5) computers. OS/400 and AS/400 were introduced in 1988. OS/400 is now called i5/OS and the latest version is V5R4.
