i-effect® installation from the desktop PC directly on IBM Power Systems

With the new i-effect^® Installer 1.0, IBM Solution Specialists menten GmbH can now offer a state-of-the-art installation routine to their customers that installs i-effect^® from a PC workstation directly on the chosen IBM target system.
 
The i-effect^® Installer 1.0 is designed for data center administrators to ease the installation, update and upgrade of i-effect^®. Further, the installer supports selective installation of modules and language packs. Administrators are now able to install or update the i-effect^® Solution Suite directly from their PC workstation on different IBM server systems.

Intelligent Installation Process

The new i-effect^® Installer 1.0 automatically performs a full system scan to make sure that all system requirements are met. This includes the identification of missing PTFs or locked system objects.

A full backup of the previous installed version is created instantly to protect existing i-effect^® installations while doing updates or upgrades. In the event that the installation is aborted, all previous data will be fully recovered thus preventing a system failure caused by a faulty installation process.  In addition, the installation requires special user rights in order to not compromise system security.
 
Installation in 10 steps

A self-explanatory graphical and easy to use interface provides step-by-step guidance throughout the installation. In 10 simple steps the essential information required to complete the installation will be checked before the fully automated process is executed. A special feature is the support for iASP installations. Based on the platform-independent Java technology, the i-effect^® Installer 1.0 will run on any Java-enabled client.

The menten GmbH new i-effect^® Installer 1.0 is only available to customers using the latest i-effect^® version 2.1.
